Diversity and improvisation are the key concepts of Dunia with many different cultural and musical elements involved: from Cuba to Kabul, from the Middle East to Romania, and from Skagen to Gedser.

Morten Carlsen and Dunia add new elements to world music. The band creates soundscapes with pulsating and complex rhythms. A series of new compositions by the band members take audiences on a magnificent journey. They live in Denmark, have international careers, and are famous for many musical acts.

Thus, Dunia contains a broad palette of timbres: a trombone with a history of Cuban pop music is met by the Northern Indian tabla and Romanian cimbalom. The Syrian oud delivers a fine contrast to the brass section, just like the bass and percussion rhythms range from Arabian music, to open soundscapes and African dance beats.
